Revisiting Condensation and its Roles:

Building upon research analysis, a significant strategy of interpreting, condensation, should be paid more attention to by interpreters for time saving. To figure out the definition and its role, this research carried out an experiment to determine whether interpreters in UN conferences used condensation strategy or not in their simultaneous interpreting. The result indicated that the strategy had its own definition, and noted that it is a strategy to interpret the source speech in a concise form into the target language for delivery time-saving. The analysis also demonstrated that it played a significant role for better interpreting, and is an effective strategy employed by a lot by experienced interpreters in formal meetings such as conferences in the United Nations. Conclusively, the two advantages of condensation-adopting strategy were time-saving and provided concise interpreting for better end-products.
