기숙형 중학교 운영에 대한 교원과 학부모의 인식 분석

A Study on the Opinions of Teachers and Parents about Boarding Middle Schools’ Operation

본 연구의 목적은 기숙형 중학교 운영에 대한 교원과 학부모들의 인식을 분석하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 충북 지역에 소재하는 기숙형 중학교 2개교 교원과 학부모를 대상으로 2016년 7월, 각 학교별로 2회에 걸쳐 질적 연구 방법인 FGI를 시행하 였다. 연구 결과, 교원과 학부모 모두 기숙형 중학교의 운영 전반에 대해 긍정적인인식을 하고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 교육적 성과로는 첫째, 적정 수 학생 확보로 정상적인 교육과정 운영과 교수-학습의 질적 향상 둘째, 다양한 비교과교육프로그램의 지속적 운영으로 학교 이미지 향상 셋째, 공동체생활을 통한 인성교육의 함양으로 학부모와 지역민들의 학교에 대한 만족도 향상으로 나타났다. 문제점으로는 교원들의 사생활 축소와 업무 부담, 기숙생활로 인한 학생들의 정서 불안 우려, 향후 안정 적인 예산 확보에 대한 불확실성이 지적되었다. 기숙형 중학교의 안정적인 운영을위한 방안으로 학교폐교로 인한 지역민들의 불만과 갈등을 최소화하기 위한 합의도출, 교원들의 심리적·신체적 부담과 과도한 업무 경감을 위한 방안 마련, 중등전기 교육단계로서 기숙형 중학교의 교육비전이 확립되어야 함을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to analysis the teachers and parents’ opinions on operation of boarding middle schools following the merger and abolition of small schools in rural area. To do so, FGI was used and subjects of the study were teachers and parents of two boarding middle schools in Chungcheongbuk-do which were established early. This study shows that teachers and parents of boarding middle schools are contented with boarding middle schools’ educational condition and schooling. First, It is possible to manage school’s curriculum normally and improve the quality of teaching-learning process by making sure of proper students. Second, various excellent educational programs are offered to students continuedly and educational ability of boarding middle school is growing by effective operation on such educational programs. Third, dormitory is managed focusing on character education. As a result, students well-adjusted in a group life. So, parents and residents’ satisfaction level on schooling is higher than before. The discussions of this study as follows; First, It is need to minimize residents’ conflict and dissatisfaction occurring in process of boarding middle schools’ establish. Second, the system support should be offer to boarding middle schools’ teachers in order to reduce teachers’ workload. Third, It is important to concern on educational vision for boarding middle schools’ identity
