『금강반야바라밀경(金剛般若波羅蜜經)』 번역에 나타난 함축 고찰

The Implicature in the Translation of the Buddhist Scripture, Vajrachedika-prajna-paramita sutra (金剛經)

This paper focuses on looking into implicature in Chinese character-Korean translation of the Buddhist scripture, Vajrachedika-prajna-paramita sutra (2012). In its sutra, conventional and conversational implicatures are found. And two implicatures at the level of word or sentence unit are mainly conveyed into target language by the translation ways like implicature-implicature, implicature-meaning explanation and implicature-substitution expression. However, the translation of implicature-substitution expression from conversational implicature was not discovered. It shows that the implicature translation in its sutra is applied for only specific type of implicature. Most of all, these results are caused by the mixture use of Chinese character and Korean language in Korean society and the abstruse meanings of terminologies in Buddhist scripture. With these analyses, this paper suggests the implicature-meaning explanation as a new translation way. It is considered as translation alternative for explicitly conveying the abstruse terminologies in its sutra.
