자유학기제 경험 학생들의 사회적 네트워크 변화 양상 분석

An Analysis of the Social Network Change Characteristics of Students with a Free-Semester Program Experience

이 연구의 목적은 자유학기제를 경험한 학생들의 사회적 네트워크의 변화 양상을 파악하는 데 있다. 기존 연구들이 자유학기제 학생들의 친구 관계 변화에는 구체적 관심을 기울이지 않은 한계점에 착안하여, 자유학기제 경험 전과 후의 네트워크의 변화를 살펴보았다는 점에서 의의가 있다. 자유학기제를 운영하는 학교 22개교를 표집하여 총 101개 학급, 2,395명의 학생들의 친구 네트워크 분석을 실시하였다. 사전•사 후 조사를 바탕으로 자유학기 경험 전과 후의 학생 네트워크 변화 추이를 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학급 내 ‘친한 친구’ 네트워크와 ‘학업 도움’ 네트워크 모두 내향 연결 중심성이 통계적으로 유 의미하게 증가하였다. 둘째, 학급 내 뿐만 아니라 타학급과의 친구 관계에서도 ‘친한 친구’ 및 ‘학업 도움’ 네트워크 모두 통계적으로 유의미하게 증가하였다. 셋째, 소외되는 학생이 일부 증가하는 현상이 나타났다. 결론적으로, 자유학기제는 학생들의 친구 관계를 확장시키며 친구들 간에 학업에 대해 도움을 받는 관계도 증대하는 특징을 보여 학생들의 친구 관계에 긍정적 영향을 미치고 있다. 하지만, 소수의 고립되는 학생들도 증가하고 있는 만큼 이들에 대한 세심한 주의를 기울일 필요가 있다.

The purpose of this study was to grasp the changing patterns of the social network of students who are experiencing a Free-Semester program. It is meaningful that previous research focused on the limitation point which did not pay particular attention to the change of friendship of the Free-Semester program, and examined the change of the network before and after the Free-Semester experience. A total of 101 schools and 2,395 students from 22 schools with a Free-Semester program were analyzed. Based on pre - and post - surveys, the results of analyzing the changes in the student network before and after the Free-Semester are as follows. Firstly, the inward connection centrality of both the friendship network and the help network in the class had a significant increase statistically. Secondly, both friendship network and help network also significantly increased statistically in friendship with other classes. Thirdly, the number of isolated students increased. In conclusion, the Free-Semester program had a positive effect on the friendship of the students. It did this by showing the characteristics of expanding the friendship of the students, and increasing the relationship of helping the students. However, as the previously small number of isolated students can be noted as growing, special attention needs to be paid to them.
