학교폭력 근절을 위한 초등학교에서의 긍정적 행동지원(PBS) 적용 가능성 탐색

An Approach to the Positive Behavioral Supports in Elementary School

이 연구의 목적은 긍정적 행동지원(Positive Behavior Support) 전략을 통해 초등학교 학교폭력을 근절할 수 있는 학교경영 방법을 탐색하는데 있다. PBS는 미국에서 국가적으로 인정하고 있는 행동중재 훈육방법으로서, 한국에서는 특수교육 영역에 한정되어 연구되어 왔다. 그러나 최근 미국에서는 PBS를 학교경영에 접목하여 학교폭력을 근절하려는 노력이 이루어지고 있다. 이에 한국의 학교 상황과 문화적 특징을 반영한 PBS 전략을 탐색함으로써 갈수록 심각해지는 학교폭력을 근절할 수 있는 방안을 마련하고자 하였다. 학교 전체 구성원이 공유하는 적합한 행동유형, 그에 대한 학습과 연습, 적합한 행동에 대한 보상, 데이터 수집을 통한 효과성 관리 등이 주요내용이 되며, 특히, 3단계 사회적 기술(stop, walk, talk)을 연습함으로써 학교폭력을 근절하고자 하였다. 후속 연구에서는 본 연구에서 제안한 학교경영 방법에 대한 실제적인 적용과 효과 분석이 요구된다.

The purpose of this study is to obtain some ideas about guidance approach of elementary school bullying from the PBS strategy. The PBS approach contains ‘common purpose’, ‘information’, ‘clear set of positive expectations & behaviors and intervention’, ‘evidence-based intervention’, and ‘clear set of evaluation system’. Central to the PBS program for school bullying is the focus on respect for each student. PBS strategy does not control the bullying but manage the educational activities and disciplines. This PBS strategy is believed to be an effective way to prevent bullying and promote positive relationship among children. It is important to include school staff, teachers and administrator to implement this program. This preliminary research supports the addition of PBS to an elementary school’s system of management.
