Sight translation is a useful pedagogic tool and a form of professional interpreting. Compared to such a high status it holds in T&I education and practice, research interest in the target language features and error patterns of students sight translation has been lacking. A systematic error analysis can provide valuable insights into learners strategies, especially when sight translation is compared with other modes of translation. Thus, the current pilot study seeks understanding of students English-into-Korean sight translation error patterns by comparing the translations of the same text in sight translation, consecutive interpretation and translation.
