The present study aims to analyze the cartoons on the Arab Spring in the Korean and Arab daily newspapers. By doing so, it intends to reveal the similarities and dissimilarities between the two areas in terms of the way in which picture and language texts are represented and expressed. The cartoon is a good way to make a parody out of what happens in the real society and give it an expression in satirical way. The cartoon comes to take a crucial position in the mass media, since it makes it easier for text consumers to understand relevant social issues and phenomenon in short space of time while it enables text producers to find a detour to what they want to express and deliver to the readership. This paper intends to examine and prove how the cartoons, dealing with important events and developments globally, work as an important prism through which the readers could observe and understand the complex political happening in that part of the world as such. The research tries to prove that the cartoon works as an effective medium to bridge the gap and to make the Korean people better understand the social and cultural features of the Arab world.
