Correlation between Translation-related Promising Careers and Job Matching

The primary aims of this study are to examine ‘promising occupations that reflect the demands of employers and job seeking group to suggest the blue ocean field in order to carve out graduates for necessary qualifications. Based on a representative Korean job search portal (www.saramin.co.kr), ‘localization translation, ‘technical writer , and ‘paralegal among translation-related occupations are frequently and significantly related to the job opening. Contrary to high demands, the above-mentioned three occupations have low recognition by universities and job seekers, resulting in curriculum design that does not cater to market demands. To overcome such reality, young talents need to be fostered through customized education program to give advantages to job seekers majoring humanities. This paper encourages job seekers to explore promising new areas while stimulates the universities with a more practical and effective education program for their students.
