The purpose of this study is to determine whether corporate characteristics such as sales and export ratios have impact on translation quality. This study has two research hypotheses. H1: Corporate sales are associated with translation expansion. H2: Corporate export ratios are associated with translation expansion. Statistical analysis shows that corporate sales are positively, but not significantly, related with translation expansion, rejecting the first hypothesis, and also that corporate export ratios are positively and significantly associated with translation expansion, again rejecting the second hypothesis. This study shows that companies with higher export ratios tend to have their English translations longer than their companies with lower export ratios to meet the information needs from their overseas customers. This research takes an interdisciplinary approach in that it tries to analyze translations based on such corporate characteristics as total sales volumes and export ratios.
