A Review on the Speciality of Translators Focusing on the Readability of Their Translated Works

It is surprising that many popular books written in English have been translated into Korean by non English major translators. Among the top rankers of best sellers, 50% of the translated works are translated by people who majored in other areas such as Russian, French, electronics, dentistry, or even mathematics. Most of them have high recognition in the publishing community. Also their productions are more than 5 volumes a year. This is beyond our expectation because it is said that a professional translator usually produces less than a volume a year. My hypothesis that non-English major translators don t do the trick can be specified in a translation of Setting the Table. I could find out many mistranslations or at least loose translated parts of the text. I believe that this kind of trend should be reviewed and checked by enhancing the standard of the translators qualifications.
