This paper is an attempt to make clear the concept and contents of readers expectation. What readers expect from translation is a very important element in translation education. With this concept, students can understand that translation is a dynamic and inter-relational process between the ST author, ST readers, translator and TT readers. Conceptually there are 3 kinds of readers expectation: ST readers expectation, perceived and oriented by the ST author; expectation of the translator as a reader; TT readers expectation, perceived by the translator. All of these readers expectations have to be considered in the translation process. Contents of the readers expectation were extracted from the data of university students writings and comments. As concrete items of readers expectation were suggested spellings, lexical spacings, collocations, subject-predicate matches, logical procession at the levels of sentence, paragraph, and textual coherence.
