This paper attempts to examine different strategies of translating film titles from the “Skopos” point of view. It starts out introducing the “Skopos theory” and discusses the Skopos of film translation as a whole. Then it goes on to analyze the data consisting of 106 Korean films and 739 Non-Korean films. It categorizes four different types of film title translation. They are transliteration, literal translation, explicitation, and creative translation. It briefly comments on the advantages and disadvantages of each strategy from the perspective of the “Skopos” of film title translation.
