For translation learners at the initial stage, teaching how to find an equivalence is considered to be important, and in this process, using a dictionary is considered to be a must. Ironically, however, one of the most common difficulties in the initial stage of translation training is a student s excessive dependence on a dictionary written in his/her mother tongue as such dependence may misguide the translation learner s concept of a specific expression and nuance, and eventually, may lead to the problem of translation quality. Against this backdrop, this paper aims at presenting a possibility to use a corpus among students in translation. To this end, this paper observed students concept of after all based on the definitions in English-Korean as well as in English-English dictionaries, the usage of after all using a corpus, and presented the possibility and importance of using a corpus in understanding the adequate meaning of a source text in the initial stage of translation training.
