대학 신입생들의 수학적 증명에 관한 신념 탐구 -학교수학과 대학수학의 연결 관점에서-

An Analytical Study on Mathematical Beliefs about Proof among College Freshmen -In View of Link between School Mathematics and College Mathematics -

본 연구는 학교수학과 대학수학의 연결 관점에서 대학 신입생들의 수학적 증명에 관한 신념을 탐구하였다. 또한 대학 신입생이 수학적 증명의 구성방법을 어떻게 이해하고 있는지도 살펴보았다. 이에 대학 신입생 91명을 대상으로 조사하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 대학신입생들의 지닌 수학적 증명의 설명 역할의 신념이 비교적 높았고그 다음으로 정당화 역할의 신념을 지니고 있었다. 둘째, 대학신입생이 지닌 수학적 증명의 체계화 역할 대한 신념은 다른 수학적 증명의 역할에 대한 신념과 상관관계가 나타나지 않았다. 셋째, 대학 신입생들은 수학적 증명을 설명적 스키마 보다는 정당화 스키마로 이해하고 있었다. 본 연구결과를 토대로 학교수학과 대학수학의 괴리를 파악할 수 있는 실마리 찾고, 대학수학의 교수 학습 방법 등 다양한 방안을 마련 해야 할 것이다.

This study examined mathematical beliefs of college freshmen on mathematical proof in view of the link between school mathematics and college mathematics. It also investigated how college freshmen understand method of constructing mathematical proof. The findings of analysis were as follows. First, college freshmen were high in beliefs in the role of explanation of mathematical proof, followed by beliefs in the role of justification. Second, there was no relationship between their beliefs in the role of systemization of mathematical proof and other roles of it. Third, They were found to understand mathematical proof as justification schema rather than explanation schema. Based on the findings of this research, it is advisable that we should find hints in discovering discrepancy between school mathematics and college mathematics, and prepare various means including teaching and learning method in college mathematics.
