Generation and Selection of the Core Technologies using the Patent Data Text-mining : Focused on the Mobile Payment Market

Due to a development of Information and Communication Technologies(ICT), the age of convergence is coming and the importance of technology foresight coping with the changes in environment is increasing. Researches about technology foresight using patent data have been actively conducted because of objective characteristics of patent data, which is consisted of massive amount of data and includes a path of technological change. This study is focused on the mobile payment market, the promising field in Fin-tech industry, and detected core technologies for technology foresight using patent data. The result showed that three technologies were selected as core technologies in mobile payment market. The core technologies in mobile payment market are that combination mobile payment system infrastructure with communication system infrastructure, transferring and processing a data related payment based on M2M(machine to machine), and users’ payment system like credit card. There is a implication that this study suggests a quantitative way to detect core technologies efficiently based on patent data with high reliability and high objectivity.
