사회적 구성주의 교육과정의 공통적 특성 탐구 및 실행 분석

Exploring the social constructivist early childhood curriculum : common threads and its implementation

본 논문은 양질의 유아교육을 위한 정답으로 간주되던 아동중심 개념이 추상적이고 일반화된 어린이의 관점의 해석을 토대로 교육과정이 운영되어 왔음을 지적하면서, 어린이 삶의 관점을 존중하는 사회적 구성주의 관점에서 교육과정이 운영될 것을 제안하고 있다. 이와 같은 패러다임의 전환을 지원하기 위해, 사회적 구성주의 이론을 토대로 한 교육과정을 소개한 대표적 연구 문헌들을 살펴보며 공통적 특성들과 그 개념의 범위를 탐구해 보았다. 서로 다른 용어로 소개되어 온 사회적 구성주의의 교육과정의 변주곡들인 발현적 교육과정, 상호조정적 교육과정, 학습공동체 모델 교육과 정, 그리고 프로제따찌오네의 각각 특성들을 고찰하고 상호 비교 분석을 한 결과 네 가지 차원에서 기존의 교육과정과 차별화를 유도하는 공통점을 발견하였다. 이를 도구로 현장의 프로젝트 운영 사례를 고찰해 봄으로 해서 현장에서 사회적 구성주의 원리가 교육과정에 어떻게 해석되고 운영되고 있는지를 분석해 보았다. 마지막으로, 문헌연구와 사례 분석의 결과를 토대로 사회적 구성주의 관점의 보육 교육과정에 대한 논의와 더불어 현장 실천에 대한 함의를 이끌어 내었다.

This paper argues for the need, in curriculum design and implementation, to move away from adopting the perspective of the universal child in a vacuum which is based on the long-cherished tradition of child-centered approach, toward respecting the existence of a particular child living in real contexts, which represents the social constructivist approach. In order to find feasibility of this suggested change, 4 variations of early childhood curricular within the social constructivist paradigm that are represented by 4 different terminologies were identified : emergent curriculum, negotiated curriculum, community of learners model, and progettazione. And the relevant literature was reviewed and analyzed, to find 4 common threads that distinguish this approach from the existing one. Using this 4 common threads as a tool, the overall process of Designing a Maze project was analyzed. And the results of the analysis of both literature review and the project was discussed in relation to the issue of designing and implementing the social constructivist curriculum in the current situation and its implication was offered.
