The evolution of didactical approaches related to teaching English as a Foreign Language (EFL) have developed into a complex array of innovative instructional methods and pedagogical ideologies. What once was a profession fixated on classical approaches to language instruction, is now inundated with creative, motivational, and multifaceted principles targeted at improving overall English language proficiency. One such effective method is the recently introduced Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) approach and its positive influence on emerging EFL literacy development. Another operative technique is the traditional based methodology of utilizing teacher focused instruction without the use of technology. As a result, this research will concentrate on the effectiveness of introducing Dolch Sight Words (DSW) into primary EFL classrooms by means of an evaluation of CALL techniques in comparison to more traditional teacher based approaches. It will be shown how these methodologies can increase intrinsic motivational levels, intellectual capacities, and overall word recognition. The culminating goal of learning DSW is to improve literacy skills among elementary English learners in the hope that they will become inspired and self-directed life-long readers.
