A Study on the Development and Nurturing Policies of China s Shipbuilding Industry

With the development of China s economy, China s shipbuilding market was also developing rapidly. In recently years, China s shipbuilding completion, new orders and hand-held ship orders accounted for the increasing share of the world, for five consecutive years to maintain the world s first. However, With the decline in world trade, ship capacity also appears to be excess. Global trade has been showing a downturn in recent years. China s economy has entered the New Normal development stage, because the weak domestic and international shipping market demand, China s shipbuilding market is facing severe crisis. In this study, we analyzed the growth process and status of Chinese shipbuilding industry which grew rapidly from decades ago, and the development and nurturing policies and future development strategies corresponding to each stage of development. In addition, this study presented some effective policy proposals for overcoming the crisis and developing the shipbuilding industry in Korea.
