어머니의 관점에서 바라본 좋은 어린이집의 의미

The Meanings of Quality child care centers from Mothers’ Perspectives

본 연구는 어머니의 관점에서 바라보는 좋은 어린이집의 의미를 알아보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구참여자는 대구지역 어린이집 5곳에 자녀를 보내고 있는 어머니 11명이다. 참여자들과 개별면담, 비디오 매개 포커스 그룹면담 등을 실시하여 자료를 수집하였다. 자료는 QSR NVivo7.0 프로그램을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 어머니의 관점에서 바라본 좋은 어린이집의 의미에서는 교사의 인성과 재교육을 강조한 좋은 교사가 부각 되었다. 또한 교사-어머니 간에 정으로 관계를 맺으며 개방을 통해 신뢰를 쌓는 부모참여와 소통, 유아의 건강과 안전 및 가정의 요구를 반영한 운영, 그리고 유아가 행복할 수 있는 보육과정이 강조되었다. 이러한 결과는 보육의 주요 관계 집단 중 하나인 어머니 집단 내에서도 다양한 목소리가 있다는 사실을 인지하고, 어머니들의 관점을 존중하면서 함께 의미 만들어가기(meaning-making)를 통해 좋은 어린이집을 만들어 나갈 수 있음을 시사 한다.

This study aims to define the meanings of quality child care centers from the perspectives of mothers. A total of 11 mother who enrolled their children in 5 different child care centers in Daegu participated in the study. Data were mainly collected through individual interviews and video-cued focus group interviews. The collected data were analyzed by QSR NVivo 7.0 program. The results indicated that the mothers placed a high priority on quality of teachers with good personality and professionalism through continuous re-training programs in defining quality child care centers. Additional emphases were put on building close relationship between mothers and teachers, parent participation and communication enabled by the trust established though an open-door policy, management of child care centers reflecting parents’ need regarding children’s health and safety, and the curriculum that can make children happy. This study suggests that it is important to realize that there are various voices with in the mother groups, one of the major stakeholder groups in child care, and a true meaning-making process should be achieved in creating a true quality child care centers while respecting the mothers’ perspectives.
