일본 소재 辛璉 藏書의 서지학적 고찰

A Bibliographic Study on the books in Japan that had been owned by SHIN, LYEON

본 연구는 기존의 일본 소재 조선본 서지 조사 목록 및 연구로 각각 소개된 바가 있는 辛璉(1517~1573)의 장서 8점을 한데 모아서 소개하고, 이를 통해 16세기의 전반적인 서적 간행 및 입수 경로에 대한 흐름 속에서 어떠한 의미를 지니고 있는지 살펴보고자 하였다. 신련이라는 인물에 대한 행적은 비교적 알려진 바가 적으나 관련 기록을 종합해보면, 주로 전라도 지역의 지방관과 정3품 사복시정을 역임하였고, 유희춘 및 임억령 등과 교유 관계에 있었던 것으로 보인다. 8점의 서적은 모두 16세기 간본이며, 성리학적 관점이 반영되어 있는 것이 6점이 있는데, 대체로 기존의 텍스트에 대해 명대의 인물들이 편집 혹은 주석을 더한 것들이다. 이들 서적의 간행은 攷事撮要 에 따르면 대부분 전라도 지역에서 판각되어 간행된 것들이었다. 따라서 이는 당시 성리학 연구의 심화 및 지방 관판본의 활성화라는 16세기의 학술 및 출판문화의 전반적인 흐름에 부합되고 있다고 할 수 있다. 그러나 본 연구에서는 신련 장서의 전체적인 규모와 양상을 파악하지 못했기 때문에, 이 8점의 장서가 가지는 성격과 의미를 시대적인 흐름 속에서 살펴보거나, 입수 방법에 대해서는 정황상의 추정에 그쳤을 뿐, 신련 장서전체의 성격을 파악하지 못하였다. 다만, 신련 장서는 기존의 기록 중심 연구에 구체적인 판본의 정보를 더함으로써 보다 입체적인 양상 파악에 도움을 줄 수 있다. 또한 이들 서적의 일본 소장처는 모두 임진왜란 이후부터 조선본을 갖고 있던 곳이기 때문에 16세기 출판문화 뿐 만 아니라 임진왜란 당시 약탈된 조선본 내역 및 이후 일본에서의 유전에 관한 연구에서도 중요한 자료라고 할 수 있다.

This study is about the books in Japan that had been owned by Shin, Lyeon(辛璉, 1517~1573). That books should have been introduced in Japan when it was happened Imjin War(壬辰倭亂, 1592~1599), and these are owned by the 4 representitive places that have been owned the copies of the fomer period of Joseon. Of course this books are researched and introduced bibliographically with other copies of Joseon in Japan, but there are no research focused on only just his books. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to understand characteristics of his books in the overall tendency of that period based on the bibliography research. The time of publication is all in the 16th Century. 2 books of them are metal type-printed book which are published by the central government office, the other is wooden print. And 6 books are related to Confucianism. In the 16th Century of Joseon, the study on confucianism tend to be more deeply, so many books are impoted from China and published in Joseon. These 6 books also indicates this tendency. Also There is a poccibility that he used his positon to get the books. Because according to Go-sa-choaryo( 攷事撮要) , 5 books had been engraved in Jeon-la(全羅) provinence, where he was in management. In the same time, there are many cases that local administrator published and engraved books for themself or for their acquaintance asking books. Although It can’t grasp whole of his books in this time, it is certain that his books are important thing not only the history of publication culture in Joseon in the 16th Century, but also exchanging between Korea with Japan.
