The purpose of this paper is threefold: a) to examine and identify Korean language and studies programs in Australian schools and universities, b) to investigate the current language policies and strategies of Australian governments from Korean educator’s point of views, and c) to suggest the future directions for Korean programs in Australia. In doing so, this paper examines Australian language policies and strategies “in the Asian Century” in terms of their implications to Korean programs in Australia. It also provides the current statistics of Korean programs in Australian schools and universities as of the year of 2015, which include enrollments of students, Korean courses offered, the issues of fostering Korean teachers, various kinds of Korean programs for different stake-holders, Korean programs of the universities, and so on. This paper argues that the upmost task for Korean programs in Australian schools is to put Korean back on the list of Priority Asian Languages of Australia.
