In this paper, firstly, traditional approaches in the previous studies categorizing errors will be examined. Secondly, a new categorization, which is introduced in a self-study book Speed up your Korean: Strategies to Avoid Common Errors, written by Lucien Brown and Jaehoon Yeon, will be introduced and compared with the traditional classification. Thirdly, different strategies used in ‘Speed up your Korean’ to help KFL learners avoid common errors for each category will be analysed. Finally, different types of examples for learners to practise what they have learnt will be introduced. The objective of this study is to introduce new approaches to the classification of errors, as well as strategies that are more conducive to helping learners perform better in Korean without making errors.
