세계 속의 한국어 교육 현황과 과제

The present state and future tasks of the Korean language education in the world.

This study discusses the present status and tasks of Korean language education in the world. Korean language became one of the 10 world languages in many ways. There are about 4 thousand places which teach Korean language as a second/foreign language all over the world including 900 universities and 2 thousand weekend schools (Hanguel hakkyo). The Korean classes are also more than 1100 in elementary and secondary schools in 26 countries. The number of people who took TOPIK were more than eighteen hundred thousand in 2015. These statistics show the present status of Korean language world wide. In spite of quantitative increase of Korean language education side, various problems are being indicated in qualitative side. The following points are presented to promote Korean language education in all the levels. Firstly, The Korean language education as a discipline should be more deepen and become more systematically strengthen in basic. Teacher’s competence and quality, Teaching method, developing textbooks, and testing should become better in more resonable and effective way.
