1.Introduction In this paper, we look for hyperbolic sets for arbitrary smooth maps. And also, we study a shadowing lemma for such maps. Our motivation comes from infinite dimensional dynamical systems. The notions of hyperbolic structures and shadowing property for the diffeomorphisms case were developed by Smale and Palmer. The notion of a hyperbolic set below and the shadowing result are designed for a generalization of this proof to maps which arise in infinite dimensional systems.
