Climate Change and the Birth of Green Criminology

Nowadays it is no more important than weather or climate in term of human existence. Weather or climate is concerned with human life style as well as agricultural production and almost all daily lives. However, climate change caused by human activities, for example draught, flood, heat wave, forest fire, storm etc., have done damage to humankind as well as nature itself. Especially global warming is the most dangerous thing to living things. Since 1990s, a few criminologists have took the harm caused by climate change as the studying subject. So was the Green Criminology born. This article takes an aim to introduce the meaning and background of green criminology, its studying method and perspectives, and studying area. Now environmental harm is the problem linked to all the human beings as well as all kind of living things. Green criminology is concerned with the environmental harm caused by corporations, especially transnational corporations. So to keep them from making damage to the living things including human being, it is important to restrict environmental harm by the corporations. Green criminology takes a important role as a guard to keep environment or earth clean in the level-up scale. Forward we need to try to make an international organization to compromise international environmental dispute.
