Firstly, this paper gives a brief literature review of the relevant research on the Russian agriculture. We could say that beside some positive remarks, most of the researchers gave very negative assessments of the Russian agricultural reforms and their outcomes during the last two decades. Secondly, relying on the databases from Russian statistic bureaus and the relevant information including interviews with Chinese experts, this paper makes a brief comparison between the Russian Far East and the China’s Northeast. There are great potentials in the Russian Far East in the agricultural sector, but it is still in the process of development. Many obstacles still need to be overcome. Thirdly, we focus on the bilateral cooperation between China and Russia in the Russian Far East’s agricultural sector. Under the very good mutual political trust between the two countries in the current stage, it is important to consider very prudently the relevant risks, related to the religious, cultural and social-political factors.
