Conductivity in polyethylene terephthalate has been investigated as a function of time, applied electric field between 4×lO⁴V/cm and 2.4×10⁵V/cm. In common with previous investigations, it is found that the current decays with time according to an inverse power law. The comparative analysis of the Schottky - type law with the experiment results are not very successful. By choosing a generalized form of potential barrier, it is possible to obtain consistent agreement with the experimental results. From the analysis of the above process we obtained the conclusion that the form of potential barrier chosen appears to refer to the cathode-dielectric interface and is probably determined by space charge in the dielectric.
