The article deals with the new theorisations on health in the libertarian, utilitarian and personalist perspective, and their consequences at an ethical and juridical level, with specific reference to the configuration of rights and duties in the patient and doctor/healthcare professional relationship. The author discusses on a critical bases the libertarian claims of individual rights and the utilitarian approach of quality of live, arguing in favour of the personalist concept of health as a relational good.
