Purpose: This study was conducted to identify the relationship between self-esteem, gender-stereotype activation, violence perception, and date violence coping types among college students. Methods: Two hundred and eleven college students were surveyed in a college in Geonggi-Do. Data were collected by self-reporting questionnaires. Measurements for this study were used self-esteem scale, gender-streotype activation scale, violence perception scale, and date violence coping types scale. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, One-way ANOVA, and Pearson’s correlation using SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The results showed that there were positive correlations among self-esteem, active regulation of date violence coping types, gender-stereotype activation, violence perception, and passive regulation of date violence coping types. Conclusion: The results of this study suggests that the development of an effective strategy for enhancing self-esteem and violence perception, and decreasing gender-stereotype activation.
