New H-shaped dimesogenic thermotropic compounds with terminal cyano groups have been prepared. These compounds were composed of two identical mesogenic units bridged by the polymethylene spacer. By differential scanning calorimetry and on the hot-stage of a polarizing microscope investigations their thermotropic and liquid crystalline properties were studied. The structures of the compounds are presented below
