Translating the General Epistles in NA28 into Korean

본 연구는 NA [초 록] 28의 공동서신의 읽기 본문 변경 부분들(총 76회)에 대한 소개를 위해 번역을 제시해 보는 논문이다. NA28이 지난 2012년에 출판된 이후, 학계는 NA28을 표준 헬라어 본문으로 사용하고 있다. 그러나 NA28은 이전 판들의 전통과 달리(지역적 계보적 방법론), 편집 방법론을 달리하는 ECM2 (일관성에 근거한 계보적 방법론)의 공동 서신 읽기 본문을 담고 있는 혼합 형태의 비평본이라 볼 수 있다. 따라서 NA28은 지난 반세기 동안 NA25-27을 사용하듯이 사용될 수 없다. 그러나 이러한 사실에도 불구하고 여러 가지 요인들(예. 학계에서의 공동서신의 소외)로 인해 NA28은 수용되고 있다. 게다가, NA28이 제시하는 변경된 본문들에 대한 주의함 없이 NA28이 사용되고 있다는 점은 매우 심각한 문제이다. 이러한 상황 중에 본 논문은 NA28 공동 서신의 변경된 읽기 본문들을 이전 비평본들과 비교해보고, 또한 변경된 본문들에 따른 번역을 조심스럽게 제안해 봄으로서 NA28의 공동 서신 부분에 대한 주의와 더불어 NA28에 대한 전반적인 논의를 촉구하고자 한다.

Published in 2012, NA28 is acclaimed as the standard text of the New Testament among Bible translators and scholars. A new textual- critical method, Coherence-Based Genealogical Method(CBGM), is adopted and we have a new text in the General Epistles in NA28. The result is a hybrid critical text, featuring some radically different readings from the previous editions in the so-called Nestle-Aland tradition. This paper is an attempt to highlight the ways and degrees in which the General Epistles of NA28 differs from those of NA25-27 on which current major Korean translations are based. Now the standard, critical edition of the New Testament reads differently from the translated texts widely used in Korea. I examine 76 places in particular in which the change seem conspicuous. Not all of the changes in NA28 are unjustifiable, but we should be aware of the theological implications that the changes in the Greek texts might carry. Individual passages and textual variants should be weighed in light of the theological and pastoral considerations as well as purely scientific and philological precisions.
