To investigate the effects of the intake of green tea (GT) and other beverages on obesity, blood pressure, blood lipid levels, and nutrient intake, a complex cross-sample analysis was conducted on the 2012 Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey for Korean male adults aged from 30 to 50 who answered surveys regarding their dietary intake by the 24 h recall method. It was found that the blood pressure was not significantly different between the GT and other beverage consuming groups. The total blood cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and fasting blood glucose level were not significantly different among the groups, but the triglycerides concentration for the milk and dairy group (MD) was significantly lower (p<0.05) than those of the other groups. The nutrient intake showed high levels of vitamin C in the GT group, but the difference was not statistically significant (p<0.06). The LDL-cholesterol concentration was the lowest in the GT group, but the difference was not statistically significant (p<0.06). In conclusion, the triglycerides concentration was significantly lower in the MD group, but there was no significant difference in the serum lipid, blood pressure, and blood glucose levels between the GT and other beverage consuming groups. The finding that the LDL-cholesterol concentration was the lowest in the GT group, but that the difference was no statistical significance in GT, requires further study with more samples in the future.
