Security Analysis on Data Encryption Software TrueCrypt for Secure Hard Disk Driver

오늘날 컴퓨팅 환경에서는 하드디스크 내부에 중요한 정보들을 대용량으로 저장하고 있기 때문에 하드디스크의 분실, 유출, 탈취로 인한 기밀성 위협이 가중되고 있다. 이에 대한 대책으로서 하드디스크 전체 혹은 일부를 암호 화하여 보관할 수 있는 소프트웨어가 개발되어 사용되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 하드디스크 암호용 공개 소프트웨어인 TrueCrypt에 대해 인증 체계 및 키 관리, 암호화 방식 등을 살펴하고, 각 요소에서 발생할 수 있는 보안 취약 점을 분석 검증하였다. 또한, 발견된 TrueCrypt의 보안 취약점에 대응할 수 있는 방안을 제시한다.

T in today’s computing environment, there are many threats to the conndentiaiity o f information stored on Hard Disk Drive(HDD) due to accidental loss, leakage and theft o f it. As a countermeasure against these threats, some disk encryption software are developed to fully or partially encrypt information. In this paper, we analyzed the security threats on open disk encryption software TrueCiypt in aspects o f authentication structure, key management and encryption method. Furthermore, we present some countermeasures to defeat these threats on the TrueCrypt.
