A Study on the Relationship between the Organizational Health of Childcare Centers and the Job Stress of Childcare Teachers

For this study on the relationship between the organizational health of childcare centers and the job stress of childcare teachers, a survey was conducted for 237 childcare teachers working at childcare centers in Seoul and Kyunggi province. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and one-way ANOVA using the SPSS 12.0 program. The results were as follows. First, childcare teachers assessed ‘the organizational health of their childcare centers’ at above average level, and evaluated ‘the ability of teachers’, which is the sub-factor, at the highest level. The teachers from the private childcare centers who are older or married tended to assess the organizational health highly. Second, the childcare teachers assessed the job stress somewhat less than the average level. Specifically, in the category of ‘discord and conflict’ the teachers gave the lowest score, while the lo w wage’ category received a high score. Third, the organizational health and the job stress had negative relationship according to the teachers. The organizational health level of childcare centers and the job stress level of the care center teachers are strongly correlated. Thus, it is necessary to enhance the level of the organizational health of the centers.
