The purpose of this study is to propose an effective way to teach the mandatory Writing and Communication class at Hoseo University. This study was inspired by professor Kim Dong-II s lecture on Teaching Method to Facilitate Interactions among Learners delivered at the University during a workshop held in the month of December, 2010. A survey was conducted to understand the basic information about the course subject and the status of any existing issues in the class. To resolve such issues, three new teaching models were constructed applying STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) cooperative learning. The effectiveness of the learning motivated by using the STAD cooperative learning was statistically significant according to the levels of the students. The results of the significance were concentrated in the lower level students, which could indicate a limitation of the teaching method. However, since many students were in fact under-motivated when taking the class, the application of the current proposed method was not all that unreasonable. It is anticipated that additional supplementary measures may be discovered after the actual practice of the class.
