A Study of the Historical Development of the Trinity-Theology

The doctrine of the Trinity came from the binitarischen speculation, namely the primitive question of the relationship of Jesus Christ with the heavenly father. Even so it was up until the 2nd century, when the church dealt with the challenges of heretical errors, such as Monotheism, Modalism, Adoptionism, and Docetism. The Gospel of Matthew 28: 19( in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit ) means not the Trinity - formula how the Church is accustomed to and traditionally understood, but the trace of the binitarian speculation. Also, ljohn 5* 8( and the three are together ) should not be regarded as the prototype of the trinitarian formula. Following the two scriptures in the Bible, we can find a simple juxtaposition. Thus, rather than regarding it as trinitarian , we should consider it to be triadic . The apostolic fathers did not know of the Trinity in baptism nor in the everyday piety as well. As shown from the historical witnesses and the church-political systems, the Early Church mainly was interested in the christological and soteriological issues. This can be observed in the confessional formula of Peter: Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God (The Gospel of Matthew 16: 16). In the context of soteriology the church understood it in the binitarian concept. With regards to the Arios Trinity-Controversy , man understood the inner -ecclesiastical conflicts between hellenistic metaphysics and Christian soteriology. After the Council of Constantinople(381) and Chalcedon(451), the Church turned in the final answer to the issue of the unity and plurality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Man should not understand God in Monotheism as Sabellianism, nor in the plurality as Arianism. It s not about the metaphysical speculation, but to save humanity from the chain of sin and fear of death, as presented in the confession of Peter, that Jesus Christ is the Son of God .
