Predetermination of diffracted rays to predict signal propagation in urban mobile communication environment is proposed. This technique shows significant improvement in CPU time compared with conventional ray tracing method, and can be applied to any complex propagation environment composed of arbitrarily shaped buildings and streets. The predictions of this method are in good agreement with the measurement made in Tokyo and Ottawa.
