This paper presents an unequal error protection (UEP) coding scheme with optimally combined interleaved puncturing serially concatenated convolutional codes (IP-SCCCs) channel coder and DCT-based embedded coder for wireless image transmission. The bit streams are divided into several substreams of bits according to the property of error prone of each bits classes. Each substreams are encoded using IP-SCCCs with a different channel rate, from which UEP coding can be achieved. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme simulation results are presented, in which the channel models of Rayleigh fading and additive white Gaussian noise are assumed.
