The use of an array antenna in the wideband C D M A system can be theoretically increased the performance of the system by suppressing the multiple access interference, which is coming from other than the desired user’s direction. The performance of the smart antenna system is depends on the angular spread of the received signal. So far, lots of wireless channel models have been studied in order to analyze the performance of the smart antenna system. However, the wireless channel modeling may not be characterized the angular spread of the real wireless channel correctly. So, it may not be reliable to analyze the performance of the smart antenna system using the channel modeling data. In this paper, we analyzed the smart antenna system using a measurement data. The measurements had been performed under 1.95 G H z carrier frequency and 4 M H z data bandwidth that is used for IMT-2000 system. We compared and analyzed the relative performance of the typical beamforming algorithms that can be employed to W - C D M A cellular system using the measurement data.
