We designed circuit-switched optical local area network, which supports lb nodes each at 160Mb/s over a distance of 1-1 Okm. This network uses optical wavelengthdivision multiplexing(WDM),in a broadcast-and-select networks architecture. Each node contains an optical transmitter and optical receiver, Fabry-Perot filter, locking and scanning system, coupler and protocol analyzer, electrical transmitter and receiver. Experimentally, We demonstrated that two optical nodes transmit and receive protocol data.
