Initial Hydration and Setting Characteristics of Flue Gas Desulfurized Gypsum

The initial hyd ration and setting properties were in vestig ate dtodevelopem anufacturing processes of gyp sum w all board from flue gas desulfurize d g y p s u m (F D G ). Setting tim e and z / T were measured in the presen e of accelerator such as, K 2 S O 4 , N a 2 S 0 4 , and MgS 0 4 . Needle -likehyd rated crystals were also observe d to evaluate adherence strength of wall board paper b y optical m icrisco p e . The hydration of F D G was - markedly enhanced in the case of 2 1 % addition of 5 % —K 2 S 0 4 . In itia l, facial and final setting tim e w ere 2 m in. 0 5 sec .， 3 min. 1 5 sec .， and 7 m in. 4 1 sec., respectively . z / T was gradually increased with the increasing of added amount of 5 % —K 2 S O 4 . The adherence strength could be increased due to the prom oted form ation of slender and longer needle -like crystals by K2SO4.
