자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 특별한 관심을 활용한 교육 경험에 대한 질적 연구

A Qualitative Inquiry on the Experiences and Suggestions of Education Experts about using ASD Student’s circumscribed Special Interest at Class

DSM-5에서는 자폐스펙트럼장애인이 나타내는 특별한 관심이란 정도나 초점이 비정상적인 매우 제한적이고 한정된 흥미라고 정의하였다. 구체적으로 특이한 사물에 대하여 강하게 집착하거나 몰입하기, 과도하게 제한된 흥미에 몰입하기 등으로 나타나는 행동이다. 이러한 특별한 관심은 교육 현장에서 때로는 문제 행동으로, 때로는 긍정적 교수적 자원으로 여겨진다. 본 연구는 교육전문가를 대상으로 포커스 그룹 면담을 실시하여 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 특별한 관심을 활용한 교육 경험과 그에 따른 시사점을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 수도권 소재 특수학교 및 특수학급 경력 교사 6명과 대학 부설 특수교육 기관의 특수교사 2명, 언어치료 전문가 3명으로 구성된 교육전문가 집단을 대상으로 포커스 그룹 면담을 실시하였다. 면담을 통해 수집된 자료를 분석한 결과 4개의 주제와 15개의 하위 주제가 도출되었다. 연구 결과에 따른 핵심 주제는 1) 특별한 관심에 대한 개념과 인식, 2) 특별한 관심을 활용한 교육 실행 경험과 성과, 3) 특별한 관심을 활용한 교육을 위해 필요한 요소, 4) 특별한 관심을 활용한 교육을 위한 제언으로 나타났다. 연구 결과를 기반으로 자폐스펙트럼장애 학생의 특별한 관심을 활용한 선호도와 강점 중심의 교수 방안에 대하여 논의하였다.

This study was intended to provide basic data for preference and strength based education model development for ASD students through focus group interviews with eleven education experts. In the focus group interviews, the participants were asked about the teaching experiences and suggestions on using ASD student’s circumscribed special interest at class. The participants consisted of eight special education teachers and three speech pathologist. The scripts of focus group interview were analyzed and four main themes and fifteen sub-themes were derived. The main themes derived were 1) the participants concept and perception about the ASD students circumscribed special interest, 2) experiences and outcomes using circumscribed special interest at class, 3) elements necessary for using the special interest at class, 4) suggestions on using special interests at class and diverse educational situation. Also, fifteen sub-themes were made under these four main themes. Based on these results, teaching method using preferences and strengths for autism spectrum disorders student and implications were discussed.
