자폐범주성장애 아동과 청소년의 운율 특성에 관한 연구문헌 분석

Review of Prosodic Ability in Children and Adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorders

본 연구는 ASD 아동과 청소년을 대상으로 이루어진 운율 특성 관련 연구의 동향을 고찰하기 위하여 2005년부터 2012년까지의 국외 주요 학술지에서 실험연구 22편을 선정하여 연구 참여자, 연구방법, 독립변인, 종속변인, 연구결과 및 연구 실태에 대한 내용을 분석하였다. 논문 분석 결과, ASD 아동과 청소년은 생활연령을 일치시킨 정상발달 아동과 청소년과 비교하여 문장유형, 정서와 같은 운율의 기능, 음도, 강도, 길이와 같은 초분절적 음소에서 손상을 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 ASD 아동과 청소년은 운율단서를 이해할 때 언어적 단서에 더 많이 의존하는 것으로 나타났다. 음향학적 특성에 대한 평가방법에서 청자의 지각적 평가와 분석 프로그램을 이용한 측정치에서 서로 다른 결과를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 운율능력과 언어능력, 의사소통능력 간에 유의한 상관관계가 있는 반면 운율능력과 화용능력 간에는 상관이 뚜렷하지 않은 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 이러한 분석 내용들을 토대로 ASD 아동과 청소년의 운율 특성 연구들에 대한 문제점들을 살펴보고 한국어의 특성을 반영한 운율능력 평가에 필요한 요소와 고려할 사항에 대해 논의하고 제언하였다.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the research trend in prosodic features of children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). For the objective of this research, peer-reviewed journals published between 2005 and 2012 have been selected and reviewed. Twenty-four studies which met the predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria were reviewed in terms of participants, research methods, dependent variables, independent variables, results, and experimental trends. Results indicated that children and adolescents with ASD were significantly more impaired in prosodic features associated with stress, intonation, pitch, intensity, and duration. They were also more likely to rely on prosodic clues than other linguistic features. It was found in this study that the listener’s auditory perceptual judgment and the instrumental methods on their prosodic features revealed different results. Correlation analyses showed a significant association between prosodic ability, language ability and communication ability, while the association between pragmatic ability and prosodic ability was unclear. The theoretical and empirical implications of these findings were discussed along with some suggestions made for further research.
