자폐범주성장애 아동과 지적장애 아동의 초기 의사소통 행동 비교

Communication Behaviors in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and with Intellectual Disability

본 연구는 초기 언어습득단계에 있는 자폐범주성장애 아동과 지적장애 아동의 의사소통 행동 특성을 살피고, 장애 유형에 따라 의사소통 행동 특성에 차이가 있는지 살펴보는데 그 목적이 있다. 연구대상은 초기 언어습득단계에 있는 아동으로 영․유아언어발달검사(SELSI)를 통해 통합언어연령이 24개월 미만인 자폐범주성장애 아동 9명과 지적장애 아동 9명이었다. 구조화된 의사소통 행동 유도절차와 자유놀이를 통해 행동자료를 수집하였으며 두 집단의 의사소통 행동의 총 출현빈도, 의사소통 기능별 출현빈도, 사용한 의사소통 수단을 분석하였다. 연구결과, 의사소통 행동의 총 빈도면에서는 자폐범주성장애 아동이 지적장애 아동에 비해 유의하게 낮은 빈도를 보였다. 둘째, 의사소통 기능에 따라서는 이름에 반응하기와 거부하기에서 자폐범주성장애 아동들이 유의하게 낮은 빈도로 사용하였다. 셋째, 의사소통 수단면에서는 구어를 동반한 몸짓의 사용에서만 자폐범주성장애 아동들이 유의하게 높은 빈도로 사용하였다. 이 연구결과는 언어발달상에 어려움을 보이는 자폐범주성장애와 지적장애 아동의 초기 의사소통 행동 특성에 대한 정보를 제공함과 더불어 진단 및 변별을 위한 기초를 제공했다는 데 의의가 있다.

This study was designed to explore to compare the early communicative profiles of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD) and Intellectual Disability(ID). The participants were 9 ASD and 9 ID who were ranged 33-to 87-month olds. All participants scored less than 24 months of language age on the SELSI. Communicative samples were collected using 4 different structured communicative behavior scripts and free-play with examiner. The frequency of overall communicative behaviors, communicative functions and communicative means were analyzed. The results were as follows (1) ASD children showed significantly lower frequencies of communicative behaviors than ID children, (2) there were significant differences in responsiveness to their own name and refusal behavior with demonstrating that ASD children performed poorer than ID on these functions, and (3) ASD children used more frequent the combination of gestures and speech than ID. While ID used more frequent all other means of gesture, speech, vocalization, and the combination of gestures and vocalization. The frequency of communicative behavior, function, and means seems to be indicators to differentiate ASD from ID.
