The Meaning of National Summer Camp Experiences for Individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder

본 연구는 질적 연구로서 미국 중부의 자폐아 캠프 자원 봉사자들 (그룹 인솔자, 간호사, 활동 코치 등)의 캠프 경험과 성공적 캠프를 위한 중요한 요인들에 대해 알아보고자 함이다. 1대 1면담을 통한 사례 연구 접근 방식으로 이루어졌다.

A qualitative study was shared in the national summer camp program volunteers camp experiences and views about critical factors to success. The camp program provided by a nationally recognized camp program for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder in the Midwest U.S.A. The case study approach was implemented through focused face-to-face interview. The participants of the interview segment were camp service volunteers; the camp advocate, coach, nurse and councilor. Most participants agreed that the camp experiences were beneficial for individuals with ASD, but some of the problems were pointed out. In addition, the study found primary factors contributing to the success of the camp: human and material resources including consideration of individuals with ASD s physical and sensory, social interaction, and family needs.
