본 연구의 목적은 국제 컨퍼런스의 성공요인을 발견하고자 하는 것이다. 연구를 진행하기 위해 먼저 학술지 기사와 논문 같은 선행연구를 살펴봤다. 그리고 국제 컨퍼런스 사이트에 방문하여 과거의 컨퍼런스 사례와 앞으로 진행될 컨퍼런스에 대한 정보를 얻었다. 컨퍼런스 전문가를 연락하고 컨퍼런스 진행과 성공에 대한 세부적 요소와 최근 동향에 대해 조사하고 컨퍼런스 참석자를 대상으로 설문조사를 진행하였다. 마지막으로 ICCA(International Conference and Convention Association)에서 찾은 정보도 이 연구를 진행하기 위해 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과에 따르면 컨퍼런스를 계획할 때 흥미롭고 지식이 많은 발표자를 선택하는 것이 필수적이다. 적당한 컨퍼런스 장소를 예약하고 충분한 네트워킹 시간을 제공하는 것도 컨퍼런스의 성공요인 중에 포함된다. 또한 국제 컨퍼런스를 계획할 때 계획자가 컨퍼런스의 성공에 영향을 미칠 수 있는 문화차이를 반드시 알아야 한다.

This research aims to discover the key success factors of international conferences. This research will use a variety of methods to carry out this research. First of all it will examine previous literature on the topic, such as journal articles and theses. It will also use conference websites in order to gain information on previously held and upcoming conferences in both the UK and Korea. I will meet and question conference experts and professional Organizers in order to gain knowledge from their expertise in this area. I will also use information from the ICCA(International Conference and Convention Association) in order to carry out this research According to the results of this research it is vital to select interesting and knowledgable key speakers and presenters when planning a conference. It is also important to select a suitable venue and to provide enough networking time for the attendees, which are also included in the success factors of conferences. Finally, when planning a conference, it is important to take into consideration any cultural differences that may affect the success of the conference. The limitations of this research include the number of respondents of the survey. More respondents would account for a more reliable data set, therefore it would be better to increase the number of respondents accordingly. In addition the interviews with conference organizers are of a subjective nature therefore this should also be taken into consideration.
