Recognition Impairment by Thrsp Overexpression in Brain

Thrsp is a genetic code for thyroid hormone responsive protein. Thrsp was reported to increase thyroid hormone induced neuronal cell death and to decrease proliferation of neural stem cell and progenitor cells. In this study we produced Thrsp overexpressed transgenic animals and evaluate its neuropharmacological behaviors. As a result, Thrsp transgenic animals showed increased locomotor activity, decreased attention and memory, and increased impulsivity. It also showed decreased cognitive function. Therefore Thrsp overexpression could affect on cognitive impairment and this animal might be used as an animal model for cognitive impairment. It needs further study to validate this animal model and to explore neuropharmacological activity of Thrsp in the brain.
