Regional Interindustry Analysis of Urban Agricultural Industry - Based on the Case of Daejeon City -

This study is performed to define the concept of industrializing urban agriculture which may promote its forward and backward effects on urban economy and to analyze the interindustrial re-lationship with other industries based on the regional input-output accounts of Daejeon city. This paper addresses the description of inter-sectoral linkages through classification with re-lated sectors within the scope of urban agricultural industry. Interindustry analysis method is used to estimate the extent to which sectors of urban agricultural industry can stimulate the growth of urban economy based on the production inducernent coefficient matrix of 20 sectors amalgamated from 78 industrial sectors. The multiplier effect of changes in demand for sectors of urban agricultural industry was esti-mated at 2.5765, greater impact on the urban economy on average. It is emphasized that policy should support clustering urban agriculture and related industries for sustainable growth of the urban economy.
