사회적 참여 관점에서 되짚어본 미술관 체험 전시 사례 연구

A Case Study on Hands-on Exhibit in Art Museum Experience from the Perspective of Social Participation

체험 전시는 다양한 유형의 박물관과 미술관에서 지속적으로 이루어지고 있지만 체험 전시에 관한 연구는 주어진 컨텐츠를 체험하도록 하는 기능적인 활동으로 보고 접근하는 경향이 있었다. 본 연구는 사회적 참여의 관점에서 미국 미술관의 어린이 대상 체험 전시의 의미를 살펴보고자 한다. 사례연구로 2015년 2월에서 5월까지 미국 오하이오주의 데이톤 미술관과 콜럼버스 미술관의 어린이를 대상으로 한 전시 자료를 수집하고, 분석하였다. 사회적 참여의 관점에서 분석한 두 체험 전시 사례 결과를 바탕으로 네 가지의 제안을 하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어린이와 가족 구성원을 위한 다양한 상호작용 활동으로 기획될 필요가 있다. 둘째, 사회적 상호작용을 높일 수있도록 자극적이며 흥미로운 전시 설계가 필요하다. 셋째, 관람자, 관람자간, 관람자와 박물관 간 상호작용, 즉 사회적 참여를 추동시킬 수 있도록 설계해야 한다. 넷째, 참여적 관점에서 미술관의 기능과 관람자의 역할을 새롭게 모색해 나갈 필요가 있다.

Hands-on exhibitions have been held in various museums and museums, but research on hands-on displays tended to approach and view them as functional activities to experience given contents. The purpose of this study is to examine the significance of the exhibition on children s experience in American museum from the perspective of social participation. This case study collected and analyzed two exhibitions for children at the Dayton Art Institute and Columbus Museum of Art in Ohio from February to May 2015. Based on the results of the two hands-on exhibition cases analyzed from the viewpoint of social participation, four suggestions are as follows. First, there are needs to be a variety of interactive activities for children and family members. Second, designing exhibitions with provocative and stimulating presentation techniques is needed to increase social interaction. Third, it should be designed to promote interaction among visitors, and between visitors and museums, that is, social participation. Fourth, from the viewpoint of participation, it is necessary to newly explore the functions of the museum and the role of visitors.
