대학생의 대학 입학전후 글쓰기 경험 및 인식에 대한 분석과 교육지원 방안 모색

An analysis of undergraduate students’ experience and perception of academic writing before and throughout university and how educational support may be provided to undergraduate students

본 연구는 대학생들의 입학 전 글쓰기 경험과 학술적 글쓰기에 관한 학생들의 인식이 입학 후 글쓰기 활동에 미치는 영향을 조사하고, 실제로 대학의 학술적 글쓰기를 수행하는 데에서의 어려움을 파악하여 이를 해결하기 위한 글쓰기 교육의 방향을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 입학 전 신입생을 대상으 로 글쓰기 경험과 인식을 파악하기 위한 설문조사를 실시하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 전형의 특 성상 다른 전형과 유의미한 차이를 보였던 입학사정관 전형 학부생을 대상으로 심층 면담을 수행하여 그 들이 대학 글쓰기를 수행하는 과정에서 겪는 문제와 실태를 심층 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과를 통해 학생 들의 학술적 글쓰기 능력을 강화하기 위하여 대학에서 제공해야 할 글쓰기 교육 프로그램으로 획일적인 교과 교육의 방법을 넘어서서 학생들의 학업능력의 차이를 고려한 맞춤형 교육이 필요함을 확인할 수 있 었다. 따라서 이 연구는 각 대학이 학생들의 글쓰기 역량을 향상시키기 위한 지원 정책을 강구하는 데 있 어 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study was conducted to analyze the academic writing activities undertaken by undergraduate students as part of their higher education and how their activities are influenced by their pre-university writing experiences and perception of academic writing in general. This study also aimed to identify difficulties such students face with academic writing and propose possible academic writing support programs that universities could provide to enhance their students’ writing capabilities. To this end, surveys were conducted on incoming freshmen to analyze their writing experiences and perception of academic writing prior to university. Based on the results, in-depth interviews were conducted with students admitted through the Admission Officers Track, as their results of the survey differed significantly from those of other students. These interviews focused on the students’ current experiences and difficulties they currently face with academic writing. Results from this study highlighted the need for tailored academic writing education programs, given the differences in academic capabilities and writing skills, rather than providing a standardized program. As such, this study will be able to provide universities with a foundation for the development of an academic writing support program which can strengthen the academic writing skills of their undergraduate students.
